We had a slow start of the winter up here in Norway, but after Christmas it started snowing for real. A handful of snowstorms with funny names have swept over the Scandinavian countries mixing snowfall with rain, which gave us a solid base. After new years the temperatures dropped and the last weeks it has been snowing about a meter of the lightest, fluffiest snow I have ever seen!

Norway has many good smaller resorts with decent vertical meters that are good for powder shredding. The best thing is that in weekdays there are almost no people, at all!

These shots are taken in Myrkdalen, located in a valley near Voss. This place seems to be magical, the first time I was there it was green grass in the bottom of the valley and just 20 min up the mountain the snowbanks were above the car! The mountains here spreads far and the terrain is open thanks to devoted people who have been cutting trees here in the summer.

This shot is taken at Hallingskarvet skisenter, a place with three draglifts and loads of possibilities. It might look closed when you get there but just ask the old couple that runs the place to start the lift for you(!)

Hallingskarvet skicenter is also home to x-games medalist skier Andreas Håtveit. With a private park in his backyard with nine rails in line and a huge kicker he has made sure that shredding comes first!
Let´s hope for more snow and sunny days:)

Mother Nature has not been kind so far this year in terms of snow…there’s barely any snow in the Sierra Nevada range since November. The resorts that don’t have snowmaking equipment have not even opened yet! SC rookie rider Marissa has still managed to get out there and tear up her local resort, China Peak, running hot laps through the park features and natural hits top to bottom!

Marissa’s been having fun on the Tetra and the Gremlin, making the best of an otherwise lame start to the season. It can’t last forever so stay positive SC Nor Cal shredders … Mother Nature can be a real Bitch sometimes!
